President Buhari To Drop Lai Mohammad As Information Minister
Reliable source from the Nigerian presidency had it that Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will under take minor cabinet reshuffle, three months after the appointment of cabinet ministers.
The Impulse Nigeria gathered that the current minister of Information, Culture and Tourism; Alhaji Lai Mohammed will be eased out due to complaints from Senior members of All Progressive Congress (APC), and members of President Buhari’s kitchen cabinet over what they termed Lia’s unprofessional information management.
Social media had singled Nigeria Information Manager for constant attack and object of ridicule, as he is being daily and widely dubbed as a liar, which is not good to the image of the government locally and internationally.
Party members also are no more happy about the classification of the government spokesman as a liar, putting a lot of premium on the integrity of government.
The idea to move him to another ministry where his voice will not be regularly heard is contemplated. Dr Kayode Feyemi who is current minister of Solid Minerals is speculated to take over the information ministry. He was regarded in APC circles as being very suave, like able and diplomatic person whose amiable nature is expected to resonate with the public as well as the media.
Why I will not join YBNL - Dotman
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Dotman Budding indigenous rapper Dotman, whose real name is Oladotun Alade, in this exclusive interview with Naij.com talked about how meeting Olamide changed his musical career, why he will not join YBNL and upcoming collaboration with Ycee. How long have you being in the industry? I have doing music for a while but was signed to U & I label in January 2015; so that is when I can say I started officially. Tell us more about U & I Records As the name implies, it is music for you and I, music for everybody, we are not doing it for our consumption alone. We appeal to the streets and everyone. I’m the only artist on the label right now. They started operations in Canada, they have artistes there but I’m the first artist they are working with in Nigeria. Do you see your label competing with other bigwigs in the industry? I don’t see any competition from anywhere, left to me we are doing our thing right and one day we will get there. TV presenter-turned-singer If you see an opportunity of joining a bigger label, will you jump at it? I don’t think there is any point joining any other label, because my label is doing everything to make me happy and we are doing great. What’s your biggest song so far? Of course, it’s Yes Melo. Then Fine Girl was a hit, people loved it especially the ladies; then cover to Bobby Shmurda’s Hot Ni**a. Blessing was another massive street tune people responded well to. Your style sounds street and we have a lot of artists like, Lil Kesh, CDQ, Olamide, Reminisce, YCEE and many using the same style, do you see yourself moving to the top ahead of these acts? To look forward to being at the top of the game is a normal thing to do, because every time I wake up I always see myself at the top of the game. Others are very good; the likes of Olamide, Reminisce, Seriki, CDQ, Lil Kesh and many more – all of them are very good but everyone is a boss in his lane, na all of us sabi. And the fact that we use similar styles does not mean anyone cannot be the best or carve a niche for himself. The sky is wide enough for birds to fly. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter A lot of your fans prefer you rapping than singing. What’s your strength, rapping or singing? You are very right, I’m an indigenous rapper majorly but I have got to sing to prove my versatility so as to remain relevant. Anything can inspire me anytime and freestyling is the best way to express it. If not music, what else will you be doing? I’m a physics education student in Unilag, I love physics. It’s not easy combining both but I’ve got to try my best. How did you get Olamide on Yes Melo remix? It was one fateful morning like that, a friend just called and was like, ‘Dotman wetin dey do you? Check your Instagram and repost wetin Baddo post.’ I didn’t take him serious initially but I went online and saw Olamide’s tweets like, ‘I’m feeling this Jam from Dotman and YCEE’s Jagaban.’ He also said he would love to jump on their remixes with us if we have the time. I was so happy, I contacted him. He is a very nice guy, gave me his number and said I should call him anytime. He gave me his house address, I got there, we recorded that song and the rest is history. Upcoming artist Considering Olamide’s tight schedule, he gave you his time and attention? How do you manage to get him on the video? Olamide always has my time. There is no time I call on him that he doesn’t attend to me. He has his busy times too and I understand. I had wanted to shoot the video earlier but my time collided with his preparations for OLIC2. So, I had to give him time to organize his show, more time to rest abroad, get himself back before we could shoot the video. If he offers you to join his label, will you oblige? No, I will love to finish with my label first. I will always love to work with Baddo but I have a contract I must honour with my label, even though joining him will push my career massively and positively. But I can’t say because he is a bigger brand I should just jump into it while abandoning the one we are building. Olamide also hustled to the top. You don’t jump in to success; you will jump out. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter You said Olamide picked you and Ycee, but right now Ycee is doing better than you, do you think you can match his recent successes? Talking as a religious person, I believe everybody has their own time. I’m a very religious guy, I fear and believe God. There is this saying: Ma wo ago alago sare – meaning another person’s time won’t tell your time. So, Ycee is getting more attention and love – fine, he is bigger than Dotman now that’s his time and I’m very happy for him. As for me, I see this time as my grinding moment the fame will definitely come someday. I needed this phase to tell a story when my fame finally comes. Any plan to do a collabo with Ycee? Sure, a collabo is coming, not my song nor his though. It’s going to be a theme song for Annual University Crest Awards. I think I’m gonna be doing the chorus, he has a verse with some other artistes too. Majorly our collabo will surely come one day. Where do you see yourself in the next five years? To be at the top of my game in music and a successful farmer. DJ Farmer, how? Yes, farming. My father was a farmer; I grew up with him so I love farming and will definitely go fully back into it. What are your best and worst moments in music so far? I think my best was, when I got those tweets from Olamide because after that remix, everything has been working well; getting more attention from people and my social media accounts getting larger. My worse happened this month when I performed at a show without a DJ. I had to do it with a live band I didn’t rehearse with and I have never done before. The performance was watery. I had to stop them and freestyle the song on my own. What should fans expect from you next? A club song is ready, I wanna put an artiste on it before I put it out. My album should come towards the end of the year also. The album is ready, I just need to pick from the songs I have recorded not new ones, I record everyday we are just waiting for the right atmosphere to drop it.
Bill gates reveals amazing thing about cancer in the future
According to frightening statistic, every year, approximately 8.2 million people worldwide die from cancer. But Bill Gates, an American business magnate, philanthropist and investor, believes that number will drop dramatically in the coming years. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter “In medicine, we’ve had a lot of miracles, and I think all of us expect and count on more,” he says in an interview. “In the next 30 years, I really do think cancer will largely be a solved problem.” Gates believes it’s a realistic vision of the future. Also, the business magnate admits that disease eradication in less developed regions will be a difficult challenge. But he expects the world will make unprecedented progress in health in the fairly near future. “If we reflect on the cures the world has achieved just since 1990, we have an incredible track record, Gates writes. We’ve discovered crucial vaccines for diseases like polio, and the number of children who die under age 5 has been cut in half. We predict that the next 15 years will see the pace of these developments increase even faster,” he comments. Also, he adds that increased investment in medical research and development could lead humanity to the next breakthrough. Nowadays The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is working on initiatives to help eradicate diseases worldwide, including malaria, polio, HIV/AIDS, and guinea worm. The foundation’s latest efforts include disease control research and a $776 million investment in fighting child mortality and malnutrition.

The National Youth Service Corps will re-open orientation camps in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states before the end of 2016, the Director-General (DG), Brig.-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, has said.
Olawumi told newsmen on Thursday in Katsina that the decision followed the successes recorded in the fight against insurgency in the north eastern part of the country.
‘’Since the insurgency has been reduced drastically, we are resuming orientation in Gombe state beginning with this batch ‘A’ of 2016.
‘’Adamawa state will resume with the next batch, while Borno and Yobe orientation camps will be re-opened before the end of the year,’’ he said.
Olawumi said that the states had some of the best facilities for orientation in the country, but had to be closed down due to insecurity.
He advised corps members to discharge their duties at their places of primary assignment diligently.
The DG called on state governments to ensure prompt payment of allowances to corps members to boost their morale for effective service delivery.

However, other forex dealers said the naira might gain further and settle around 260 against the greenback at the parallel market.

.
According to the bank; ‘’Few staff that performed below expectation were relieved of their jobs,’’ adding that the promoted staff cut across all cadres of the workforce.

EXCLUSIVE: N780 billion fine: Nigerian govt. slams MTN, denies N50 billion payment claim
The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, on Thursday distanced itself from claims by MTN Nigeria that it persuaded the phone company to withdraw its lawsuit for both sides to reach an out-of-court settlement over a N780 billion fine imposed on MTN by the regulator.
The commission also denied knowledge of MTN’s claim that it made a part payment of the fine.
MTN had announced Wednesday that it was dropping its legal challenge, and was making a “good faith” payment of N50 billion to enable the two sides reach an amicable solution on the matter.
“This is a most encouraging development. It demonstrates a willingness and sincerity by both parties to work together towards a positive outcome,” MTN Nigeria’s Chief Executive Officer, Ferdi Moolman, had said.
But the director of communication, NCC, Tony Ojobo, told PREMIUM TIMES exclusively on Thursday that the commission was neither aware of MTN’s decision to withdraw its court case, nor pay $250 million (about (N50 billion) to the Nigerian government.
“We (NCC) are not privy to it (agreement to withdraw a case from court and pay $250 million by MTN). We do not have anything to do with it. We do not have any evidence of payment of any money to the Nigerian government. There is no invoice to that effect. We have also not gotten any official information or confirmation that they have withdrawn their case in court,” Mr. Ojobo said.
“That information is not from us (NCC). It is MTN that released it from South Africa. We have not gotten into any discussion on the modalities of payment of the fine. Whatever MTN is doing does not affect the fact that a regulatory fine was imposed and payment is expected,” he said.
Mr. Ojobo however assured that the NCC management would meet later Thursday to review the report and take a decision that would be communicated to the public through an official statement.
“We have not even met to take a decision like that. There was no discussion whatsoever with NCC on the matter. MTN has not even met with the committee that was set to discuss these issues.
“On what basis was the agreement made? We do not know the basis on which they arrived at the $250 million they claim to have paid. For now, no official position on this. We are just hearing it in the news like every other person,” Mr Ojobo explained.
The NCC had in October 2015 sanctioned MTN, Nigeria’s largest mobile operator, for failing to disconnect 5.1 million improperly registered lines within the prescribed deadline in compliance with its regulatory directive to telecom operators in the country.
The penalty was based on N200, 000 fine imposed for every unregistered SIM card in use on any telecom operator’s network.
Although the fine was subsequently reduced by 25 per cent to N780 billion, MTN Nigeria failed to pay the penalty.
The company later filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Lagos to challenge the Nigerian government’s action.
The court gave both parties until March 18, 2016 to reach an amicable out-of-court settlement over the matter.
When contacted, spokesperson for MTN, Funso Aina, said he should be given some time to respond to PREMIUM TIMES inquiry.

EFCC Begins Probe Of Ooni Of Ife
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly begun the investigation of the new Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and his company, Metropole Interproject Limited, over an alleged N400 million forgery.
A frontline human rights activist, , Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman, Executive Chairman, Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ), whose petition led to the investigation, disclosed that he has been invited by the anti-graft agency to come and shed more light on the petition.
The petition dated Monday, 2nd November, 2015 entitled “Request for Prosecution of Prince Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi and his Company named Metropole Interproject Limited for the Offence of forgery, Fraudulent Conversion and Obtaining the sum of N400 million by false Pretence” was forwarded to the EFCC Chairman and received on Friday, November 6, 2015. Copies were also sent to President Muhammadu Buhari, Transparency International (TI), Embassy of the United Kingdom (UK), as well as those of the United States of America (USA) and Republic of Canada.
The petition was supported with the series of evidence, including a petition letter dated 7th September, 2015 which authored by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Rotimi Jacobs of Rotimi Jacobs & Co Chambers.
Comrade Sulaiman said in a signed statement issued yesterday in Lagos that he received a phone call from an EFCC official advising his group to report at the commission’s Economic and Governance Crime (EGC 1) department in Lagos this week.
According to him, “The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited us and we are going to appear before it this week to substantiate our position on the subject matter. Our belief is that to every logical mind, the gold is gold, regardless of whether a Prince
or beggar, is holding it in his hand. There is need for inculcation of moral value to our society through the palace in every community in the land and anybody that would occupy the position of authority should come with integrity in order to serve as a good example to younger generation.
“It is also our belief that if you are preaching equity, you must come with clean hand. Worshiping of money and world materials increases the social vices in the country today which makes the corruption to be on the increase geometrically. We don’t have any personal grudge
against Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi because we believe that God makes a leader but we want justice to be done on any issue of this nature as it has been part of our stand. Anybody alleges of any wrong doing needs to clear his or her name first before occupying any exalted position. It is because Nigeria as a country has been eroded of moral values where brigandage takes the order of the day.”
Comrade Sulaiman urged EFCC to also “invite Mr. Rotimi Jacobs, who authored the first petition on the matter, and as well as Professor Gabriel Olawoyin, the head of Olawoyin & Olawoyin Chambers, to come and state their position on the mind-boggling issue.”

Woman in India is raped in her hospital bed just hours after giving birth via C-section (photos)
A 23-year-old woman in Delhi, India, suffered the worst form of abuse when she was raped in her hospital bed just hours after a traumatic birth via C-section. She was recovering in the intensive care unit of the private hospital in New Delhi after the caesarian section when she claimed she was attacked. The suspected rapist (pictured above) was caught on CCTV getting out of a car and entering the ICU at 3:30am on the day of the attack.
He got past a guard by claiming he was a doctor and was seen checking on patients in the ICU but staff didn't question his presence or purpose in the ward. According to the victim, the man seen on the CCTV raped her in her hospital bed, and despite her screams no one came to her aid.
A relative of the woman who was allegedly assaulted says no one responded to her screams. 'She is my nephew's wife and she gave birth to a girl yesterday and was admitted to the hospital,' a relative of the alleged victim said. 'I was with her till late 9:45 pm and then left because the hospital staff said no one was allowed to stay the night in the ICU. There was nobody in the ICU when the man entered. 'All the patients were sleeping. My daughter-in-law screamed but nobody came, neither any nurse nor any doctor.'
The police released images from the CCTV footage hoping someone would identify the man in the video

Sunday Oliseh shuns NFF Technical committee meeting
The Nigerian Football Federation Technical committee had planned a meeting with coach Sunday Oliseh on Friday in Abuja, but the Delta state born tactician snubbed the meeting citing 'travel reasons' according to reports.
The NFF technical committee had summoned Oliseh to a meeting today to explain his choice of players and planned tactics ahead of Nigeria's must win AFCON Qualifier next month, but the coach says he will be traveling to London this weekend on a scouting mission so can't meet the committee.
This might cause more problems between the coach and the NFF after he reportedly told the technical body that he wasn't answerable to them and earlier criticized the NFF for not motivating the players enough by paying them their salaries and allowances.
The NFF Technical committee is made up of respected football figures like Christian Chukwu, Paul Bassey, Victor Ikpeba, Mutiu Adepoju and Garba Lawal.
