A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday sent former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro back to Kuje prison, having adjourned the consideration of his application for bail till tomorrow, Thursday.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had on Monday arraigned Moro alongside a former Director in the Ministry, F.O. Alayebami and former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Anastasia Daniel Nwobia on an 11 count charge bordering on complicity in a N676m immigration recruitment scam.
The presiding judge, Justice Anwuli Chikere had, during the last sitting of the court, remanded Moro in Prison pending the consideration of his application for bail, while the 2nd defendant, Mrs. Anastasia Daniel-Nwobia, was granted administrative bail on the ground that she is currently nursing a baby. The case was then adjourned to today, Wednesday.
In her ruling on Wednesday, Justice Chekere held that Moro and the former Deputy Director in the Ministry, F.O.Alayebami be sent back to Kuje prison while Daniel-Nwobia remain on the administrative bail the court earlier granted her.

Deadly Punch Lands NURTW Ticketing Official In Morgue
The Benue State-born Okada rider, who gave his name as Igor Jabless, allegedly dealt Sodiq the deadly punch at about 7.30a.m. over payment for a ticket issued by the deceased.
The Nigerian Tribune learnt that Jabless told Sodiq that he was not ready to pay because he belonged to the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders’ Association of Nigeria (ACOMMORAN).
But there were different versions of the incident that led to Sodiq’s death, as some eyewitnesses said that Jabless did not return any of the jabs thrown at him by the deceased, because of the way NURTW officials were dreaded by drivers and Okada operators.
“In the process of throwing punches at the Okada rider, the NURTW official’s cap fell off.
As he bent to pick it, he just slumped,” a witness said.
However, another version of the story had it that the refusal of the Okada rider to pay for the ticket given to him led to an argument which made the deceased to hit him severally.
According to the witness, “when the fight between Sodiq and Jabless ,started, Sodiq had an upper hand, as he dealt the okada rider several blows. Jabless succeeded in returning a punch, but Sodiq slumped immediately it landed on him.”
The Nigerian Tribune further gathered that Sodiq was rushed to a nearby private hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO),in Oyo State, Adekunle Ajisebutu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed the story, saying that the suspect had been arrested while the remains of the deceased had been deposited in the mortuary at State Hospital, Ring Road, Ibadan.
Ajisebutu added that the state Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, had directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku for investigations.

We’ll ensure rescue of kidnapped girls – Ambode
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday said his government will not spare any effort to ensure the safe release of the three female students of Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary School in Ikorodu area of the state kidnapped by a group of armed gang on Monday evening.
The Governor in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, condemned the unfortunate incident and assured that the Police and other security operatives have swung into action, with useful leads and with an unwavering determination to track down the perpetrators of the act.
“We have not been silent on this unfortunate development. In a delicate security matter of this nature, where young innocent people are involved and management of information demands utmost circumspect, we were convinced that swift and coordinated reaction, guided by intelligence reports on the part of the Police, was a better and more sensitive approach to take, rather than a sensational, panic-stricken reaction,”Governor Ambode said.
He said the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni and the Assistant Inspector General of Police for the Lagos/Ogun Command were fully on ground at the scene and vicinity of the incident leading the entire coordinated effort involving every military apparatus.
“We believe in the capacity of the Police to lead this rescue mission. I have had ceaseless briefing with them since the incident happened and God helping us, we shall spare no effort in securing the safe release of the girls and continue to secure the school and indeed every part of Lagos”.
Governor Ambode said the incident may not be unconnected with his recent visit to some parts of Ikorodu where he read the riot act to vandals and criminal gangs on the resolve of the state government to take the battle to their hideouts in a spirited effort to secure the pipelines.
“We believe this is a case of evil fighting back. But Lagos will neither succumb to threats of lawlessness nor bow to terror.
“Our resolve is very clear; we will assist the Police and other security agencies in dealing decisively with this one unfortunate case and prevent future reoccurrence. We will deploy the resources at our disposal to safeguard every life and property within our care,” he said.
How Rivers state has become a hot bed for political violence
The political atmosphere in Rivers state is buzzing as the March 19 legislative rerun elections gain momentum. The election will see key political figures in the state slog it out for a place at the National Assembly and state House of Representatives. However with the heated confrontations, power tussles and cacophony, already being experienced in the build-up to the election, the struggle for the existing political space and power in Rivers state is quite disturbing. Reports making round show that the political arena in the state is thickening with hate and indifference. There are also fears that the chaotic scenes in the governorship election look more certain to re-occur in the upcoming legislative election, if the situation is not properly managed. Naij.com takes a critical look at events that have unfolded in the build-up to the March 19 election and the before/aftermath of the March 28, 29 presidential and National Assembly election and April 15, 2015 governorship election in Rivers state. The Origin The elections witnessed on March 28, 29 and April 11, 2015 will go down in the history of the country as one of the biggest ever. For the first time in a long while, Nigerians witnessed peaceful elections in most parts of the nation. However, with a whopping population of over 140 million people, it is almost impossible to eliminate violence completely. This was evident in the proportion of chaos that was witnessed in Rivers state. It was reported that scores of members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state were killed and many left injured, as elections in the state were on-going. Ex-governor Rotimi Amaechi had ordered the suspension of accreditation of voters in Ikwerre local government area in the state, following the non-availability of result sheets and a reported attack on security agents and corps members. According to Amaechi, the current minister of Transport, all sensitive and non-sensitive materials were on ground in his polling unit. However, because of the fact that one of the key sensitive materials was missing (the result sheets), the situation on the ground became a big source of worry to him. Hours afterwards he made a statement alleging that all the election equipment and materials, especially result sheets, were largely possessed by the PDP agents. Amaechi accused the electoral commissioner in charge of the Rivers state of deliberately truncating the electoral process in the state so as to favour the incumbent governor Nyesom Wike. As such, Governor Ameachi called for the immediate cancellation of the polls conducted in the state. The governor and other APC supporters besieged the Rivers INEC office to demand for election cancellation. This declaration by the governor sparked a gunfight, and it was reported that scores lost their lives in subsequent clashes. However, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers state, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike, as the winner of the April 11, 2015 governorship elections in the state. Announcing the election results in the wee hours of Monday, April 13, at the INEC office in Port Harcourt, Professor Faraday Osasere Oruwese, the returning officer for the state and Vice Chancellor of University of Benin, said Wike garnered 1,029,102 votes representing 87.77% to emerge as winner. According to the result, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, came second with 124,896, while candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Prince Tonye Princewill, came third with 10,142. The results however prompted the APC and its candidate Dakuku to seek redress at the tribunal and victory emerged for the party at both the tribunal and Court of Appeal. But with the Supreme Court verdict on Wednesday, January 27, which upheld the mandate of Governor Wike, the result of the April 11 poll by INEC validated. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter The political atmosphere in Rivers state is buzzing as the March 19 legislative rerun elections gain momentum. Scores have been reported dead Nine feared dead as gun battle erupts in Bori Threats/War of Words Following his victory at the Supreme Court, Governor Nyesom Wike came out to make a threat to officials of INEC and security agencies that would make any attempt to rig the upcoming legislative election. According to him, they would be treated as armed robbers. “Anybody who would come to the state with intention of stealing our votes by force of arms will be treated as armed robbers because armed robbers do not only steal money in Banks. Anybody who plans to rig our election would be resisted. “So any armed robber coming to the state on March 19 for rerun election should first call his wife, his first so and his lawyer to write his will because he would not come back. I have no apologies for saying that because Rivers is PDP and PDP is Rivers state,” Wike said while addressing his supporters at his inter-denominational thanksgiving and victory service in Port Harcourt on Saturday, February 27. He added: “The federal government promises to conduct free and fair elections. We will support them but we not support stealing of our votes. So I surprised that whenever I said those who would want to steal our votes would be treated as armed robbers, armed robbers they say I am threatening them yes, I will continue to threaten armed robbers. What people do not understand is that armed robbers do not only rob banks they can also use guns to rob our votes. They are all armed robbers. So if they are coming and hands clean to conduct free and fair elections they have nothing to fear. Therefore I will stand firm to fight armed robbers. So my APC brothers should join me to fight those with guns to steal our votes. “Nobody will sit in Abuja and write the Rivers state results. I challenge APC candidates to mobilize their people to test their popularity as they claimed they are in their various constituencies.” Reacting swiftly, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, the APC candidate in the Rivers south east senatorial district re-run election slammed Governor Nyesom Wike for threats against his life and that of officials of INEC. He said: “There is an evil in Rivers state and I have chosen to speak against it. If anything happens to me, Nigerians, Rivers, Ogoni people and my family should hold Governor Nyesom Wike and his PDP responsible because the threat against my life is too much. “That the antics of Wike could better be explained by the proverbial offspring of the toad and the snake, who were innocently playing together until they had a break and returned to their mothers. “The mother toad admonished her child for playing with a dangerous animal while; mother snake also did the same to the child for not swallowing the toad only to complain of hunger. Acting on this advice, the little snake beckoned on the toad for another round of play. The toad replied, what your mother told you, my own mother also told me.” APC, PDP clash at a parley with service chiefs Death Toll In the last two weeks, five events have occurred to raise red flags relating to insecurity and electoral violence in Rivers state. The first was the slaughter of 24 people in one day at Omoku in Ogba Egbema Ndoni LGA of Rivers state. The second was the attack on the military at Yeghe town in Gokana local government area by well-armed militant youths after it was alleged the army killed some residents in the area. The third was the burning down of the campaign office of Senator Magnus Abe at Bori, Khana LGA by suspected political thugs. The fourth was the killing of 18 people following gun-duels in Gokana and Khana local government area of Rivers state. The last was an attack on a bank and the engagement of citizens and the Police by armed robbers at the new GRA axis of Port Harcourt, crisscrossing all the way to Ikwerre Road. The robbery and the ensuing shootout lasted for several hours on Wednesday February 24. This renewed wave of violence is unprecedented in Rivers state history. Dangers Ahead Like most states in Nigeria, Rivers state has always had some history of political violence since the 2003 general elections. However, what is being witnessed today is a dimension taken too far, especially before, during, and after the 2015 general elections. A number of reasons may be advanced for why Rivers state is now a hot bed of political violence, but one of these reasons is certainly the quest for power. Reports in many quarters have it that some of the political actors of the 2015 electoral era in Rivers state have actively sponsored, promoted and supported violence as a means to an end. It is regrettable but true as it’s quite evident that cult gangs hold power in many communities in Rivers state today. The situation has worsened to the extent that nobody feels safe anymore in Rivers state. Today, the people of Rivers state are groaning under the agonizing weight of kidnapping, assassinations, armed robbery, political violence, and all forms of criminality. However, the general question is how long are the people of Rivers state going to live like this? Sadly, it is most likely going to get worse with the forth coming re-run elections for legislative houses coming up in two weeks. The early warning signs are quite obvious. The March 19 rerun legislative elections in Rivers state will be held in the three Senatorial Districts, 11 House of Representatives Seats and 22 of the 32 state assembly seats.
JAMB Releases 200,000 Results As Minister Expresses Concern
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Tuesday released results of 200,000 candidates who had written the examination even as the test continued.
The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of JAMB, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, disclosed this during the monitoring of the exercise in Abuja and its environs.
He explained that over 200,000 candidates’ results had been released since the examination commenced on Saturday.
Ojerinde spoke just as the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, expressed concern over the plight and difficulties faced by non-computer literate students sitting for the examination.
The minister expressed his reservation when he visited some centres in the FCT to monitor the on-going Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) being conducted by JAMB.
Adamu, however, said though he was satisfied with the conduct of the CBT mode of the examination, he was glad the board had addressed most of his concerns and other Nigerians.
He said: “I seem to be very comfortable and happy with what they are doing.
Notwithstanding the minister’s reservation, Ojerinde urged candidates who had sat for the examination to visit the JAMB’s website and check their respective results.
According to him, “More than one million, eight hundred and fifty thousand candidates applied to take the examination nationwide in 2016.
“The figures however recorded a slight increase of 113,673 candidates who applied for the examination in 2015.”
JAMB kick-started full Computer Based Testing (CBT) in 2014 after eliminating the Paper Pencil Testing (PPT) system within that same period.
Prof. Ojerinde further informed journalists that government had reached out to the National Communications Commission (NCC) to produce at least four new CBT centres annually.
“National Communications Commission has been mandated to give us at least four centres every year. Meanwhile, the first four are fully completed, the next four would soon be built and with time every nook and crannies of the country will have functional CBT centres,” Ojerinde said.

It’s unclear if original stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale will return. High School Musical 3: Senior Year premiered in 2008 and its premiere weekend box office sales marked the highest debut ever for a musical G-rated film.
"High School Musical is part of Disney Channel's DNA," Disney Channel President Gary Marsh said in the release. "It embodies all that we stand for. Astronaut Scott Kelly is home
NASA astronaut Scott Kelly is back on Earth.
Kelly and Russian cosmonauts Mikhail Kornienko and Sergey Volkov landed late Tuesday night in the Kazakhstan desert, NASA and Russian mission control said.
Kelly could be seen pumping his fist and giving a thumbs up after being hoisted from the Russian Soyuz spacecraftthat brought the trio back.
All three underwent field tests immediately after leaving the spacecraft.
Kelly has completed a nearly yearlong mission on the International Space Station, the longest any U.S. astronaut has been in space.
The prolific social media user posted a photo of the sunrise on Tuesday -- the last one he watched from space.
Spending 340 days in space could affect a person's vision and bones, but Kelly said last week that physically, he feels pretty good. "I could go for another 100 days or 100 years," the astronaut said during his last briefing with reporters from orbit.
But the long stay has also been lonely. "The hardest part is being isolated from people on the ground who are important to you," he said.
The space veteran said he has witnessed some of the most amazing scenes of Earth during his mission, like spotting the northern lights, passing over the Bahamas and watching huge storms like Hurricane Patricia.
The view from space
He's also gained perspective on Earth's climate while he's been orbiting the planet. "I feel more like an environmentalist since I've been up here," he said. "There are parts of the Earth that are covered with pollution all the time. I saw weather that was unexpected. Storms bigger than we've seen in the past. This is a human effect. This is not a natural phenomenon."
In a previous interview with CNN, Kelly said Earth's atmosphere "looks very, very fragile" from the space station. But there are opportunities to solve the Earth's environmental problems, Kelly said Thursday. "If we can dream it, we can make it so," he said.
Once Kelly lands, he will be flown to Houston's Ellington Field and go through a battery of physical and scientific tests. Afterward, he's looking forward to jumping into his pool, he said.
Kelly isn't bringing back any souvenirs -- this is his fourth mission in space, after all -- but he's looking forward to returning some personal items when he lands.
One of his biggest hopes for the Year in Space mission's legacy is that it helps NASA on its quest to take astronauts farther away from Earth on longer space flights -- a necessity for traveling to Mars in the future. "The space station here is a magical place, and an incredible science facility. I hope more people have the opportunity to do this in the future," he said.
'Feel like I've lived my whole life up here'
He told CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta last week that it feels like he's spent his whole life on the station and that leaving it is going to be tough.
"I'll probably never see it again," Kelly told Gupta. "I've flown in space four times now, so it's going to be hard in that respect, but I certainly look forward to going back to Earth. I've been up here for a really long time and sometimes, when I think about it, I feel like I've lived my whole life up here."
A year ago, before he launched, Kelly, 51, joked that he would be taller than his twin brother, former astronaut Mark Kelly (the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords), when he returns, because you get a bit taller in space. At least briefly.
"You do grow when you're up there for a long time," Kelly said last year. "Unfortunately it doesn't last."
But did he really get taller than his brother? Though he's no longer an astronaut, Mark Kelly volunteered to take part in NASA's "Twins Study" with his brother. NASA wants to see how the identical twins measure up after a year in two very different environments -- Scott in space and Mark on Earth.
Staying in contact
Scott Kelly also said he would spend a lot of time talking to people on Earth, messaging on social media -- and he did. He shared many pictures on Twitter taken from his perch about 200 miles above Earth. (By the way, you can see the space station fly over if you know when and where to look.)
Kelly also promised to keep a personal journal of his experience on the space station and said that he might share it with us.
"I plan to be completely honest about it," he said before launch, but -- "who knows, maybe there are some crazy thoughts I'll have at the end that I wouldn't want to share."
Kelly also did experiments. Lots and lots of experiments. He and his one-year crewmate, Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko, conducted studies to help NASA better understand what happens to the human body in space: The eyes, brain, bones, muscles -- they all change in a weightless environment.
NASA needs to know a lot more about these changes to the body before it can send people to Marsor on any other long spaceflights.
Riding home with the Russians
Kelly began his mission to the space station on March 27, 2015, riding a Russian rocket that launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
He is coming home much the same way. When his mission ends, Kelly will have spent 340 consecutive days on the space station and a total of 520 days in space counting his time from previous trips. Both are records for U.S. astronauts, but not for Russia. Between 1987 and 1995, four cosmonauts spent a year or more in space.
Kornienko also is coming back Tuesday and cosmonaut Sergey Volkov is on the flight too -- though he did not spend a year on the space station.
Kelly's mission won't end once he lands. NASA will spend years analyzing the tests he conducted on board.
