Salami joins Finland club Kuopion Palloseura
Nigeria striker Gbolahan Salami has joined Finnish Veikkausliiga side Kuopion Palloseura on a year’s deal with an option of further one year extension.
The Finnish side announced the 24-year-old former Warri Wolves striker as a late capture before the close of the January transfer window ahead of the 2016 season.
The club announced the deal via its website.
The Lagos-born forward has made 13 appearances for the Nigeria senior national team, scoring three times.
The former 3SC striker bagged 17 goals for Warri Wolves en route to winning the inaugural Rashidi Yekini top scorer award last season.
His goals were crucial to the Seasiders finishing as league runners up, six points behind eventual champions Enyimba thus earning a place in the Caf Champions League.
Before signing for the Finnish outfit, Salami had a short spell with Red Star Belgrade in January 2015 and underwent a trail at English outfit Aston Villa.
The former Warri Wolves striker is expected in Kuopio in few days as he awaits an entry visa from the Finnish authorities.
Salami will join fellow Warri Wolves team mate and former captain Azubuike Egwuekwe at Kuopion Palloseura.
