It was a nice weekend for the Nigerian trio of Osaze Odemwingie, Victor Anichebe, and Odion Ighalo as the players enjoyed away wins with their respective clubs in the English Premier League games played on Saturday.
While the duo of Anichebe and Ighalo played varying part in their team’s result, Odemwingie watched from the bench as his team Stoke City whipped AFC Bournemouth 1-3.
Anichebe came in as second half substitute as West Brom beat his former club, Everton, by a lone goal.
Ighalo on his part played all 90 minutes as Watford piped Crystal Palace 1-2. Former African footballer of the year, Emmanuel Adebayor, ascored the only goal for Palace, but his effort was inadequate to save the day.
In other games, Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike, came in as second half substitutes as to help West Ham to a 2-2 draw away to Norwich City.
The game was Moses’ 15th Premier League match for the Hammers with his only goal for the club coming against Manchester City in September last year.
Elsewhere, Sunderland defeated Manchester United 2-1 to pile more pressure on manager Louis van Gaal amid rumours of the imminent arrival of Jose Mourinho.
The win takes Sunderland to 21 points, three points away from safety while Manchester United remain fifth with 42 points after 26 matches in the premier league this season.
